Peggy Smith Bush is a founding partner of Southern Trial Counsel | PLC. Focusing her practice on the defense of manufacturers and distributors, Peggy has defended her clients in litigation involving allegations of food liability focusing on contamination and adulteration, wrongful death, toxic torts, product defects, premises liability, and property damage. Peggy's practice exemplifies her core values of leadership, service, teamwork, innovation and creativity with dedication to a professional reputation and raising the bar of excellence.
Peggy received her B.S. from the University of North Alabama in 1984, majoring in Marketing. After graduation, she worked in television and radio. In 1992, Peggy obtained her Series 7 and Series 63 Securities Licenses and worked with top producers at Prudential Securities and Robinson-Humphrey-Smith Barney in the sale of stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
Peggy received her law degree from Barry University School of Law cum laude, where she served as Managing Editor of the Law Review. She distinguished herself academically, winning "Book Awards" and graduating in the top ten percent of her class. She excelled in oral advocacy, winning the First Year Student Outstanding Oral Advocacy Award, appointment to the Moot Court Team and competing as part of the Student Trial Advocacy Team. Peggy worked for a high end defense firm for seven years before starting Southern Trial Counsel in 2010.
Peggy and her husband Stephen have been married since 1985. Peggy enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and entertaining, reading, abstract water color painting, and traveling. She concentrates her volunteer activities to benefit the health and welfare of children, the elderly, and senior pets.
